I read rooms the way I read a rough cut.

I'm not only a filmmaker. The Human Origin is the same work with a different tool. I read organisations the way I read a rough cut: not the scenes, the cuts. Where something stops holding never shows in the frame. It shows in the transition.

My reading of the West is an uncomfortable one. We perfected performance and cleared the table. Everyone is working on themselves. Nothing is holding them.

I'm not saying that from the outside. What holds a person is not something I studied — I had to build it, because it didn't come with me. That's why I see immediately where it's missing from a room.

The remedy doesn't need inventing. It's a table where the thing everyone already knows is allowed to be said out loud. We had one here too. We got rid of it because it wouldn't scale.
